Title: Kung Fu Kids Break Away/三毛流浪记

Synopsis:
In old Shanghai before the liberation, big capitalists, warlords, speculators, foreigners, rogues, and swindlers roamed the world, living in luxury and extravagance, while the lower-class people lived in abject poverty and hardship. With a big head, a round nose, three hairs, and a small stature, the comical-looking boy is the protagonist Sanmao (played by Wang Longji) in this film. Orphaned at a young age, Sanmao wandered the streets of Shanghai all day, penniless and hungry, resorting to eating paste from advertising boards and sleeping in garbage trucks when exhausted. To survive, he delivered newspapers, pushed carts, and picked up cigarette butts, but misfortune always followed, leading to failure in all his endeavors. Despite his kind deeds, he was falsely accused and beaten. However, living in the dark underbelly, Sanmao always maintained his honest and kind character, refusing to become a tool for others' wrongdoing even for a meal. This film is adapted from the eponymous comic strip by the famous cartoonist Zhang Leping.
